What Oakens does
Legal matters often begin with an urgent telephone call, scattered documents and dates that are difficult to remember. Oakens provides a structured first-stage assessment across family law, personal injury and housing disrepair.
We gather the initial facts, identify the people and organisations involved, build a chronology, record available supporting information and note important gaps or urgent issues. Where a matter appears suitable, that organised case record can be provided to an appropriate independent solicitor for consideration.
Why the preparation matters
A clear initial record can reduce repetition and help a reviewing solicitor understand the essential facts more quickly. It does not decide the legal merits of a case and it does not guarantee that a solicitor will accept it.
Oakens can
- conduct an initial case discussion;
- gather and organise factual information;
- prepare a chronology and case summary;
- identify missing information and urgency indicators;
- send a suitable enquiry for independent legal consideration.
Oakens does not
- act as your solicitor;
- provide legal advice or legal representation;
- decide that your case will succeed;
- agree legal fees or funding on a solicitor’s behalf;
- create a solicitor-client relationship by receiving an enquiry.
Independent solicitor decisions
Any solicitor receiving a case record remains professionally independent. The solicitor conducts their own checks and assessment, decides whether to accept the matter, provides any legal advice, agrees their own terms with the client and remains responsible for the legal work.
Our approach
We aim to be clear, respectful and methodical. We ask only for information relevant to the assessment, explain the next stage and avoid presenting general information as advice about an individual case.
